A three-kilometre green railway aisle carved by freight trains passing through birch and maple. Visit before noon and you'll hear only birds and the occasional cargo rumble. The surrounding Rivne marshland is covered in wild rosemary in spring, so the air smells like both train oil and flowers.

The biggest island on the Dnipro was a Cossack stronghold and still feels like a steppe frontier. Bike single-track through feather-grass, watch reenactors fire muskets at noon, then swim off a sandy bank that faces Europe's largest hydro dam.
