Ukraine Airport Transfer Guide (2026) - All Options & Tips
Plan your Ukraine trip with smooth airport transfers, reliable, fast, and stress-free transportation to hotels and beyond.
Helpful Tips
Download the Uklon app before arrival. It is the dominant local ride-hailing platform in Ukrainian cities and often has more drivers than international alternatives.
Kyiv's Metro accepts contactless bank card taps directly at the turnstile. Skip the token queue entirely.
Book intercity train tickets through the Ukrzaliznytsia website or app (uz.gov.ua) in advance. Popular routes between Kyiv, Lviv, and Odesa sell out days ahead.
Marshrutkas (shared minibuses) are the standard way to travel between smaller towns. Pay the driver directly in cash when you board.
Common Scams to Avoid
Unlicensed taxi touts at arrivals: Unofficial drivers approach passengers in the arrivals hall at Boryspil International Airport and quote a seemingly reasonable fare, only to inflate the price sharply upon reaching the destination or claim the agreed rate was per person. Avoid this by using only the official taxi desks inside the terminal or booking a pre-arranged transfer before you land.
Airport currency exchange manipulation: Exchange bureaus inside Ukrainian airports have been documented charging significantly worse rates than city-centre banks, and some employ confusing fee structures or slow counting techniques that result in shortchanging. Decline airport exchange entirely if possible, use an ATM inside the terminal instead, and always count your cash before leaving the counter.
Unofficial transfer and minibus overcharging: Drivers of unmarked vans or private minibuses solicit passengers outside the terminal, presenting themselves as a cheaper alternative to regulated transport, then charge tourists several times the going rate or demand extra fees for luggage. Stick to clearly marked official bus services or the Boryspil Express rail link, whose fares are fixed and posted publicly. Note that Ukrainian airspace has been closed to civilian flights since February 2022 due to the ongoing conflict, so verify the current operational status of any Ukrainian airport before planning travel.
